Watching the Official DVD of the 2011 NBA Champions Dallas Mavericks brought back some memories. For one, this championship was achieved by an entire team. All 15 players on the roster had a highlight at some point during the season, and as the DVD progressed through the playoffs, it felt as though every game had a different player as the main contributor. It’s a great thing to see. I was also reminded that few believed this team was going to do anything significant – other than Mavs fans and the players themselves. Towards the end of the season, teams were calling out the Mavs, hoping to match up with them in the playoffs. When the Mavs were later up 3-0 in the second round against the Lakers, people still thought the Lakers had hope, especially Jeff Van Gundy who made it sound simple for the Lakers to come back from this deficit. To the surprise of many, the Mavs pushed on, never losing hope no matter the deficit and finished off their run with vindication. This is a great DVD, including one-on-one interviews and a variety of clips; I would highly recommend checking this out.
