Fun Fact Friday

18 11 2011

Lynn Nolan Ryan Jr. holds the MLB all-time record for career strikeouts with 5,714 which is 839 more than Randy Johnson who is right behind him. From 1972-1982, Ryan finished in the top five in strikeouts 10 of those 11 seasons, and if you extend that time period to 1991, he finished in the top five 16 of 20 seasons. He is the only player to accomplish a 9 pitch – 9 strike – 3 outs inning with both the NL (New York Mets) and AL (Texas Rangers).
