The sophomore slump is no more. The Madden curse has ceased to exist. Calvin Johnson has earned the nickname “Megatron” and become one of the most effective receivers in the game, no matter his Lions’ record. With two games left in the season, Johnson is 182 yards away from breaking Jerry Rice’s single season receiving yards record of 1,848 yards. All the while, Adrian Peterson is doing the unthinkable. Coming off an ACL injury late last season, most experts believed him to have little to no chance of playing on the football field this season. Going against this analysis, most other player’s first year after an ACL injury and medical logic, Peterson has played every game this year and been tramping over defenses. With 1812 rushing yards and two games left on the season, Peterson is only 294 yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson’s long-standing record of 2,105 rushing yards that he set in 1984.
