Fun Fact Friday

Florida Gulf Coast just made their program known for all of the college basketball nation.

For the third time in the past two season, a 2-seed has been taken down by a 15-seed as the FGCU Eagles took down theĀ Georgetown Hoyas 78-68. The 15-seed has only won four other times since the 64-team field was created in 1985.

For Georgetown, this is deja vu… again. Since they went to the Final Four in 2007, other than 2009 when they were in the N.I.T., the Hoyas have been the 2-seed or 3-seed every single season. And every single time they entered the NCAA Tournament, they have been defeated by a double-digit seeded team. No one should have been surprised to see this surprise.
